for some reason, my disk defragger stopped working. i select the drive to defrag, then click defrag and nothing happens. same thing with analyze.

looking for some other alternatives, i remember them being mentioned in the past, but i can't remember any names
googled it and came up with perfectdisk and o & o defrag

awsome, instead of fixing the problem, just ignore it and get a diff prog

your system is fucked beyond defrag, at this point :mamoru:

yeah i know, i'm in the process of burning all the ripped dvds on my system before i reimage it
with it being so fragmented, encoding and stuff takes a lot longer.

i'm probably just going to dump all the rips to my server and reimage

    however, the question still stands

continue to do what you're doing... backing up your shit.

after you've gotten everything, perform a full checkdisk/scandisk. if that is successful or fixes whatever. a defrag after that should work.

Nothing different than everyone saying to switch to Firefox when IE isn't working right

I use O&O and it's been working fine, but I'd defiintely take a look into why Windows defrag isn't working.

I never say to switch because IE stopped working... I say never use IE from the start so it doesn't have a chance to break.
