My roomate is, he fell out of love with it since it becomes more of a nuisance to have his only days off on the week taken once a month by drill.

I am National Guard and it is ok. The only downfall was I was deployed and currently deployed about 6 weeks after getting out of AIT.

Yes, active duty pay. However my brother is a reservist and when he was also paid BAH which I didn't get paid when he was deployed. He made A LOT more in Iraq than I did. So I think unless you're already getting paid BAH you'll actually make more as a reservist if you are activated and deployed to the combat zone.

better benefits from the state... im unsure if AFR gives bonuses, ANG def. does... ive spoken to some of my buddies in the AFR and it seems as if the state gives a shit about us and takes better care of us; also the comradeship seems a but tighter as we are all in at the same time and we mobilize together.

look into it, one may be better than the other for you.

Its better. I get BAH, seperation pay, hostile fire pay, hardship duty pay, substinence pay, plus my states gives me and additional $500 every 6 months as a stipend, and the paychecks are tax free. I make about $45000 a year, which isnt bad i guess. It all depends on rank and time in service.
