    I'm going to college this fall. Is it a good idea to put on antivirus software, or anything to protect my computer? I have heard mostly no's, but I just wanted to find out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    we have Norton AV on all our macs at work. For the software I support, it actually does something to the temp files that causes eleventy billion error messages to pop up when people are checking in files if NAV is enabled.

    DO NOT!

    I put Norton on my mac...and my brothers...and my brothers machine is all but messed up..."for other things as well"

    But on my personal ibook, I took it off and my system was running WAY faster...and have had zero problems.

    Mac=No antivirus
