Hi, reading this article on the washington times website about North Korean troops using antipersonnel lasers to attempt to blind Apache pilots.

It also goes to mention that sailors on a russian registered ship used some kind of antipersonnel laser to damage the eye sight of US military pilot.

the weapon is called a ZM-87 antipersonnel laser (Chinese-made)

Does any one know any thing more about this weapon ? any thing listed in Janes about it ? ....

Also on a side note while searching on goolge for this weapon I came accross an article about blinding shop cameras with laser pointers.

Probably some type of goggles are available to block the laser, but they probably aren't cheap!

I found this in the article from Washington times.

"...the Navy deployed new antilaser goggles that can be worn by pilots and air crew."

Oakley has actually developed glasses that protect from blinding lasers. Currently available to military only, much to the chagrin of us folks wanting stylish green lenses.

This is the major downside to a laser. It's about 1000 times easier to develop a reflective surface to defeat a laser then it is to develop the laser itself.

  7. Nope.. the goggles, they do nothing.
