What are the effects of taking antibiotics and lifting weights? Do you lose strength or endurance? Harder to achieve muscle gain? Etc.

Unless you're an advanced lifter, put your game face on and don't worry about it.

i was on minocycline for a while and saw no differences in training, but the realm of 'antibiotics' can mean a lot of different things so that might not help you :(

:werd: I don't even know what I'm getting. I had my wisdom teeth pulled a little more than a month ago and had been fine for awhile. Today, I wake up and my right side if swelled up like a motherfucker. So, I'm going to the dentist tomorrow and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get something. :wtc:

They can hurt your strength a little but not taking them will hurt you worse.

That's because looking back at my history I see that shit like that just didn't matter. It might take you down a notch but nothing that should really shut you down. In other words do not worry about it unless you're in the final few weeks prepping for a competition and hitting hte heaviest weights. I have hit PR's on antibiotics. *shrug*

    You guys worry too much.

Different story now. If you're fighting a big infection that might slow you down some.

I know its tough, but take a little time off, let your body rest and use all its energy to fight the infection so you'll get over it quicker and get back to lifting at 100%.

not too mention, the gym loves to harbour bacteria. So if your still sick, there's always the chance you could give whatever you have to somebody else.
