if your traps are getting too big or getting too much work for whatever reason - too much shrugs, stress, etc

is there an exercise that can be done to work another muscle that will combat the overuse of traps?

wife holds alot of stress in the traps. i'm thinking chest exercises but i cant think of anything else that really is "opposite" the traps. maybe front delts. dunno.

The main purpose of the trapezius muscle if to stabilize the shoulder blade (scapula); provide a base for the movements of the arm, and to create the shoulder girdle for stability to the upper body.

    maybe i'm not making sense.

if you over work your chest, it can pull your shoulders forward. in order to keep that from happening, you train your rear delts, traps, lats.

i dont think there's anything you can train if you overwork your traps, i'm just asking because i might not know something that someone else knows.

    holla

the traps elevate the scapula (vertical abduction). the lats adduct the scapula vertically as well as abduct horizontally. so if the traps are tight stretch em. and hit your lats. that help? streching the chest would help too, since most people have the whole upper cross prontated shoulder gridle forward head thing going on.

yes, i'll get her to work on that. she used to have issues with the pronated shoulder girdle too. i'll have to double check that.

she's also got issues with her right shoulder from car accident where they had to shave off part of her collar bone. hopefully that won't cause any problems exercising.
