UFC Quick Quote: Anthony Johnson not ready for Georges St. Pierre … yet

“I’m not ready for GSP yet. His level is so much higher than mine. And I’m smart enough to realize that. GSP was at my level some point. I want to get to the level that he’s at now and it takes time…. I just gotta keep improving until I know that if I end up in a certain situations I know that I can feel comfortable.”
    – Anthony Johnson — winner of four of six inside the Octagon — tells Steve Cofield that he still needs work to compete with the best in the world at 170-pounds, UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre. “Rumble” is fresh of a technical knockout of Luigi Fioravanti at UFC Fight Night 17: “Lauzon vs. Stephens” in Tampa, Fla., last night. The 24-year-old Atlanta, Ga., native has a ton of buzz because of his size, power and fight-finishing ability. He appears to get better each time out, training with Strikeforce champions Cung Le and Josh Thompson, among others, between fights. His potential — and future — are vast. There’s a long and exciting road to the top … and he knows it. It will be fun to watch him work his way through a very crowded division in the meantime.

I understand the physical comparisons but dudeman has a hard time with fucking Kevin Burns TWICE.. He's not that good.. GSP was beating TOP opponents right out of the shoot..

He's like 5-10 guys back of GSP right now.. I'd rather see Alves, Swick, Sanchez, Koschek, Fitch, etc fight GSP before Johnson..

Johnson needs a win over someone relatively notable to become relevant. For now, he's all hype.

Johnson cleans house when he fights no bodies but I dont see him beating any one relevant any time soon.

give him a couple years, he has the potential to develop into a very dominant fighter.

    Yeah it was.

What made it funnier was the back story that Johnson didn't make the show and Speer made it to the finals. Then Johnson pistol whipped him from the opening bell.
