Does anyone know anything about Antarcic service? I'm thinking about trying to get an assignment for there, but can't find any information from this decade.

I just did a week in the Arctic for winter survival training. It was a blast. We were with Rangers and they showed us how to live with almost nothing.

All they do is smoke all day. Awesome guys. :o

I wouldn't want to stay in a winter no-man-land for too long, but it's not too bad for short periods of time.

I have an uncle that spent a winter in Antarctica while he was in the Navy. That was back in the mid-60's.

It's like being on another planet for a few months. Little-to-no hope of resupply until after the winter is over. It's a chance to explore your inner gay. :dunno:
