edit: PICS OF MY NEW WALLET ON PAGE 2!

Hey all, I made a thread in the main forum but I might as well make one here as well.
I finally got some new tools in, I made this one with everything I *really* needed except an x-acto knife (just got one today though)
I think I've improved in every way, I'd still like to know how to get the edges of the leather 'dark', I think I have to burnish them or w/e that means, as well as finding a way to start my stitching without a visible knot, probably a bit of reading will find me a way to get around that. here's the one I finished tonight, it turned out great except it doesnt close when there's cards in, and the left 3 cardholders are too small :(, I should have made it 1/2" longer. Oh well.

well this one looks a lot better than all the others you've made, including the one you recently put in the main forum.

corter @ sufu pointed out that smaller holes would be better as well, unfortunately I'm using the smallest hole size I can. I think if I find some thicker thread, that'll take care of the problem

yeah, I've seen his stuff on SuFu, everything looks really good.

I almost said something about smaller holes but I wasn't sure if that was the problem. I also might try using a thread that is a closer color to the actual wallet than slightly darker, might not make much difference but you never know.

    1) get the right tools. I can't stress this enough. if the 'little details' are off, it makes the whole thing look poor. here's a pic of my tools.
hammer, needle, thread, hole punch (very important methinks), ruler, x-acto knife (not pictured), pen, etc. message corter on sufu for tips, he's really good at what he does.

    2) practice. leather isn't ridiculously expensive, pick some up and just practice a lot.

    3) know what you're doing. if you plan out what you're going to be making and know the design, it'll help stop you from screwing up.

that's all I can really think of right now...

which wallet did you get? I'd love to have that style of wallet, but I can't for the life of me figure out what's goin on in inside. any chance you could take pics of the inside of the wallet from a few angles?
