Lighting sucks. I resorted to toning to cope with having to push a couple 6400ISO images and the fucking awful cycling lights.

actually, no. it's not called grain. It's called noise.

Digital cameras don't have grain. Film grain is the result of film processing and is a pattern of metallic silver particles due to the silver halide.

Digital noise is the appearance of the digital signal of your cameras sensor.

Please don't try and act like you know what the fuck you're talking about.

    :ugh:

On a side note, I LOVE the first shot. The classic car and the sepia look give it a really nice nostalgic look, and the blown highlights on the street combined with the headlights cutting through the fog makes it look like something crazy is about to go down... Nice!

Most of the rest are good, but they're just dragstrip shots. Nothing different about em.

The last one would be cool as shit if the guy wasn't there. I really like the dark car against the bright white burnout smoke....

I like them, good job! They have a nice mood to them, different from most dragstrip photography. I really like #1.

The noise works for these pictures I think. It adds to the mood of a dirty, foggy, noisy, drag strip.

The noise adds a nostalgic look to the photos. I think it works more with the classic muscle like the Chevelle...I don't find it all that convincing with things like hayabusa motorcycles and turbo'd Nissan 350z supercars. :mamoru:

All in all. I like your pictures. :)

I agree the pics look good. Especially for the conditions you were shooting under. ISO 6400 though? Why so high? Lights were beaming down on the cars. You'd think you could have backed that off a bit. I've never shot at a track and not night action for sure. Would like to give it a try sometime though since all my buddies have race cars.

But they are still cool looking shots.

I know that technically it is called noise but what I should have said was that it creates a grain like effect that I like.
