Another slower Nissan GTR test. Wasnt the GTR supposed to hang with the Zonda's of the world?

Quattroruote tested the following cars at Vairano Track (Italy)
    Ferrari 430 Scuderia

    Lap time: 1.15,375
    0-100km/h(62mph): 3.76s
    0-200km/h(124mph):11.64s
    (3207lbs)1458kg + driver

    Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4

    Lap time: 1.15,714
    0-100km/h(62mph): 3.65s
    0-200km/h(124mph):11.09s
    (3498lbs)1590kg + driver

    Porsche 997 GT2

    Lap time: 1.15,528
    0-100km/h(62mph): 3.87s
    0-200km/h(124mph):12.04s
    (3410lbs)1550kg with driver

    Nissan GT-R

    Lap time: 1.17,600
    0-100km/h(62mph): 3.87s
    0-200km/h(124mph):13.15s
    (3960lbs)1800kg + driver

GT-R is a JDM car with latest suspension specs.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

Some European magazine had the chance to test a JDM GTR around Nurburgring.

    Fastest lap: 7.47
    Tire: Dunlop

Three runs with Two different drivers.

(shrug) All I know is it's a really fast car. Does it really matter if it can't hang with a Zonda?

Its a bit hard to blame the slow time on the driver when the driver goes by the name of Alain Prost. Alain doesn't believe that the GTR can achieve 7:29 and hated its handling especially it's tendency to under steer.

Doesnt much matter except to show that Nissan's PR department has been playing everyone like f00ls.

Prost also gets super butt hurt over modern day Formula 1 cars. Read some of his comments about the current crop of F1 cars. He still bitches even now that they dont have ABS or traction control.

Basicly what ti comes down to is any time a computer takes control of a vehicle, Prost throws a temper tantrum about it.

Im not denying his driving skill, not in the least.
However, i am saying if you took those same cars, put an average performance driver with track experience in them, and told them to set a fast lap, you might find that the GTR is one of the fastest, if not the fastest. Becuase where electronics frustrate someone of Prosts skill, they inspire confidance in a nominal driver.

I dispute some of Nissans claims as well.
But im much more willing to listen to Nissans claims, then i am to Prosts whining.

    That's not a 1/4 mile time... that's to 124mph.

    11.6 1/4 is pretty quick.

Because straight line acceleration is a good indication of a lap time :hsugh:

Lets face it. It's the electronics in that car getting it around the corners at these speeds.

    :squint:

    And?

It's still pretty fucking quick. So what that it can't keep up with a car more than twice it's cost. Jesus tittyfucking christ :ugh:

Vairano is but one track. Different setups will shine differently on different circuits. Wow, the front engine, AWD car exhibits understeer. Who'd have thought?

I don't think many people would claim the GT-R is a better racecar than the Scuderia or GT2. It's just a better value for the money (if speed is what you value)

All cars understeer or oversteer. Even Formula1 cars, just listen to the drivers when they are practicing, qualifying, and even during racing. Not always , but sometimes even them too will say their cars are not handling optimally.

Allot of current F1 drivers want these techno nannies taken out of race cars, afterall they are there to showcase their skills behind the wheels.

On road cars its different, still, many good drivers want a car that can proprly communicate and not have the computer interfeer with everything. Many also prefer oversteer to understeer, understeer for these guys is the ultimate evil.

I and the manufacturers would argue that it's to showcase the manufacturer's superior technology.
