Just called the ATF and you can buy the pistol version, form1 it and put a stock on it as an sbr.

    so, my options....

    1) build a dedicated AR .22lr, but already have enough AR's, as well as a CMMG 22lr conversion for any of them...

    2) buy the GSG-5 (found one for ~$450), do the stamp, stock, etc.

    3) wait for who knows how long and get the kel-tec sub2k for my glock mags

decisions decisions. vote and post your pros and cons, or if you have other ideas.

meh. have another .22 shorter barrel rifle. think this might be more fun. I just am really undecided as of yet. need some pros and cons. and if I were to do it, i'd get the pistol and convert it.

the whole fake supressor barrel cover on the rifle turns me off

It's in the case, and I use it when I shoot, but only until I get used to the size. It's easy to grab a little too far forward - it's not so much a flash hider as it is a finger protector

edit : it's just got a thread protector on there now.

Ditch the fake suppressor and stock barrel for one of the gemtech suppressor/barrel combo's :o

if I were to ever really do anything with mine that's probably what I would do/ I just can't justify sbring the gsg.

Yeah, in order to avoid having to get two stamps you can tack a can on permanently, but the suppressor/16" barrel combo is probably a better idea...

It's a short barrel but the suppressor is perm. attached. I'll have to look around for more info they were posted in the gsg forum on ar15 a long time ago.

part of it is I don't want the length that the rifle version has. in which case, might as well get the GSG-5k and just do a form1 for the stock :dunno:

I'd probably do an AR just for parts interchangability. The GSG or 522 would be awesome just to have something different though.

After shooting the pistol version, I can tell you that it really needs a stock :o If I could do it again, I'd get the rifle version with the fake can. It's just not really that much fun to shoot as a pistol.

Yeah, but it needs to be a SBR or rifle version, you can't put the vertical grip on the pistol.

Hmm.. Could I take the pistol version I have, get a 16" barrel for it, and put on a stock without any tax stamps?

I got mine at a PRO gun show for like $550 IIRC - I had been looking and couldn't find one locally. I could find plenty online for 500, but with $20 shipping and $25 FFL fee, I figured fuck it, I'll get it at the gun show. $600 is a bit steep unless it comes with a 22rnd mag or two. Mine only came with a single 10-rounder

The 22rnd mags are scarce and expensive, I was lucky to find a retailer online selling them for a somewhat normal price of $34 each, I bought 3.
