Sold the XD45 4" and picked up a Para.

400 rounds today, 300 Winchester value pack fmj, 50 Winchester hollow points, and 50 Hydra Shocks. No failures and it's dead on.

Need recommendations on fine tuning though. Trigger is tough as hell and I need grips and to change out the satin aluminum hardware for something in basic black.

Can't find my camera so I stole a stock photo from Para.

All of the standard non-wrap around style grips for full grip 1911s will fit. I'd recommend getting the "slim" grips unless you have baseball mits for hands. You could always just duracoat the parts you have black. It'll be fairly costly to replace all of those parts.

Also be prepared to get buttfucked on spare mags, all doublestack 1911 mags I've found have been 60$+

also I'd start looking at Brownells and Wilson Combat's websites if you decide to replace the parts instead of painting them.

Thanks for the info. I'll start talking to some peeps about duracoat.

Are all double stack mags pretty interchangeable or do I need to look at para specific mags? Didn't find too much info over at the 1911 forums. Blindly jumped in without thinking about all of the odds and ends I'd want upgraded or extra.

I'm pretty positive all full length doublestack mags should work. Only ones I'm not sure about are for the polymer 2011 race guns.

I'm not 100% certain, but I think you are stuck to running para mags. SVI/STI mags will not work. And you wouldn't want them to work.

My mags are $150 a pop, that's untuned.

Good luck finding Para parts, there are less and less manufacturer's of Para parts every day, less and less people are shooting them in sport.

Also, Para uses proprietery parts through most of their gun, so what you can get for a 1911, may not work for a Para. I'm not even certain most grips will work.

I hope you didn't get the PXT para. Good luck.

Thanks AB, not exactly encouraging, but it helps to determine which direction I need to take it. I'll inquire with a couple of gunsmiths I know and see what they suggest.

    Thanks again.

Jesus, that gun has a lot of shit on it. For some reason, reminds me of Transformers, LOL. I guess when it's in that configuration, it's called a "race gun" or something like that?

    *edit*

Also vids of you running that gun. It's the same one from the old vids but upgraded right?

it's my Open Division gun, aka race gun. I've only run it once, last weekend. I've got some videos from last week I never got to posting about, it's on my youtube channel. It's a new division and gun for me to compete with. I'll be shooting it this weekend, still trying to dial in some good loads and I'll be shooting it all next season.

Is there a standard for doublestack 1911 mags? That sucks if not.

Standard, as in one that will work for all? No.

One of the keys to a good running 1911 in single or double stack is finding magazines that it likes.

My Colt and Kimber likes CMC magazines. My Dan Wesson and Springers like Wilson 47D and Tripp Cobra mags. My SVI will get nothing but tuned SV mags.

Having a nice 1911 and cheap GI mags is like wearing sneakers with a 3 piece suit.

Promag states their double stacks for para work in springers as well. I'll give 'em a shot and see
