So I decided to lift in thie meet about 2 weeks ago and was planning on doing it raw but 2-3 days before the meet I decided to put gear on even though I haven't worn gear more then once in 6 months. Weighed in at a jacked and tan 258. I was too nervous to eat breakfast that morning and actually puked up the oatmeal I tried to eat almost immediately. I could pedilyte/gatoraid down so I figured I'd be alright until after the squat. Squat: Felt really strong during the warmups but was somewhat worried about hitting depth since we were told they were going to be pretty strict on depth. Unlike my last meet I only wore 1 pair of briefs now that I truly understood the rules. 1st attempt: 739, burried and got 3 whites...also a new National Record in the Junior Unlimited gear class... 2nd attempt: 804, burried and got 3 whites...reset the record again... 3rd attempt: 854, got scared and cut it 2" high. the strength was there but not today... Bench: When I walked in I looked at the bench and though it looked about 4-5" closer to the ground then a Forza. This really sucked! I couldn't get into position properly and if I tried to drive my legs at all my butt popped right up. I have a problem with my ass being off the bench when benching raw but it's never been an issue when wearing a shirt. 1st attempt: 507, 5lb meet PR and the hardest 500 lb bench I've ever done 2nd attmpt: 540, miss...no leg drive... 3rd attempt: 540, miss...tried driving my legs a bit and my butt popped right up Pull: The main goal for this meet in my mind was to pull 700. I tweaked my hip flexor and my tailbone hurt like hell after the squat but I rubbed some liniment on it and pulled away. 1st attempt: 634, flew right up 2nd attempt: 705, a bit of a grind but I thought I had more in me. 33lb meet PR http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdjAnRI4Kcg 3rd attempt: 722, miss...I got it above my knees and stalled like usual. I'm going to have to get my upper back thick & strong as shit if I want to ever pull 800. So I finished the day with a 1st place, best lifter overall and I reset the squat and total records in the the Junior Unlimited gear class. I also beat my best total by about a pound. I'm pissed about the bench performance but the next meet will be on a Forza. I liked the way the meet was run so I will probably be doing another APA meet in August as a tune-up for the State APF meet in September but I will be bringing a Forza bench with me. I haven't gotten the pics yet that a buddy took but I do have a vid of my 705 pull and a picture of me with the trophies and my face blown the fuck out. I looked sunburned but those are popped blood vessels from the squat. 804 squat: 507 bench: getting ready to pull...I need to eat more.... Edit: After the meet my training partners and I tapped the Rockies and I used the trophy has a cup. Epic.
