If I hold the barbell for 2secs right above the ground is this ok to do? Ive heard people say to drop it and than lift it back up but I figure if I hold it for 2secs it should not have any momentum:

Heres my stick drawings for it:

    Lift

Go back down and hold for 2secs

Dude, dont overcomplicate it, if you dont bounce it you are fine, it is not going to kill you to not go 2 inches while doing reps on the DL

it's not a momentum issue with the deadlift as much as your form has a tendency to suffer after a negative and you not starting in your proper position again.

you could lift it up then let it down, but then regrip and go for another rep.
