when i use AIM for one of my sn's, the AIM icon in my system tray keeps blinking between the regular AIM icon and this other AIM icon. when I use another sn the system tray just shows the regular AIM icon.

this is sooo damn annoying cuz it just keeps blinking non-stop. has this happened to anyone else? WTF is this shit.

    possibly a new-mail indicator?

Also, why are you using AIM??? Please switch to Trillian. The basic version is free (although I bought Pro, and am very pleased I did). Trillian is so much better!

anyone that says "gaim ftw" is either using linux (trillian not available) or has never used trillian.

AOL turned it on for everyone... Trying to increase advertising banner revenue would be my guess.

Only when it works right. The fundamental problem with using someone's network without using their software is that they can change their protocol and screw you over until the free software guys can make it work again.

True, and there were a few times that this has occured. Although never for more than a day, and this has not occured recently. The most recent incident that I recall involving AIM was back in the days of Trillian 0.74b -- several years ago (2003, I believe).

However, this has occured more recently with YIM.
