    "Animals
Naturally, you should do everything you can to avoid hitting a small
animal. However, if you are in traffic, don’t swerve out of your lane to
avoid hitting an animal. You have a better chance to survive impact with
an animal than you do a collision with a car.
Motorcycles tend to attract dogs. If you find yourself being chased,
don’t kick at the animal. It is too easy to lose control of the motorcycle.
Instead, shift down and approach the animal slowly. As you reach it,
speed up suddenly. You will leave the animal behind so quickly that it
    will generally lose interest."

So what is it like hitting an animal on a bike, is it messy? Also has anyone ever been chased by a dog?

never hit a small furry on my bike before, but i would assume depending on what you hit it will fuck you up nicely. Seen a guy hit a deer before, no clue how or why jsut nailed the fucker hard and he had room to swerve but the no gear other than helmet, and shorts should explain this some.

Ive been chased by dogs before i do wht i learned in my MSF course slow down then open up throwing off the dogs judgement

A small bird flew into my bike once. It took a while to register what had happened. No blood or guts since I was going relatively slow, only like 40mph. It left a sizable mark on the fairing though. Looked like an insect collision w/o the insect guts if that makes sense.

I was in my truck behind a cruiser bike going up the freeway and he hit a dove with the front wheel. Big cloud of feathers then the guy leans over to look at the front wheel. I am certain he had no idea what happened, just felt something and was trying to check it out. I just hit mostly bugs and a squirrel. Almost hit a skunk once, dodged that one barely.

On Monday we had a call for a guy on a bike vs. a black bear. He wasn't hurt too bad, the bear just shook it off and ran into the woods.
