So what would be Silva’s next move if he does retire? Boxing maybe? Coaching?

“I’m going to be fat, with a big belly by the side of the Octagon, eating popcorn behind the scenes, making my imitations and screaming for the fighters: “Go there! Kick his face! Put him down!”

It's too bad, but I'm glad that he'll go out on top. I'd like to see him fight Okami after Cote, and possibly Bisping. Maybe wreck some people in LHW as well.

This sounds like nuthugging (and probably is), but IMO Anderson is one of the few people who could give Fedor a good fight.

I think his size disadvantage agianst a guy that much bigger would put him out of the runnings.

Anderson is a bad bad man, but I think he's too small to bump up to heavyweight. I think he looks fairly small at 205.

Always a nice guy. Very humble. 6 more fights before June 09? Damn. Shame he is going to retire. But I hope that he does. I hate seeing great fighters get old, passed their "prime" and still try to fight to prove they still have it.

I wonder why he's retiring so early. Is it because he's afraid to lose? That there's no more challenges for him? Maybe he wants people to always wonder "what if?" Or maybe it's a way to get more casual fans to want to see his last fights so that he'd be more of a draw. Or did he catch teh depression from Fihlo. :noes:

mabye he wants to be able to walk around without pain when he gets older. Preserving your body is a good thing.

I believe I read a while back that he cuts from some insane weight, I think it was 220 down to 185.

Smart move on his part...he's stepping out before he gets past his prime and people lose interest in him. Doesn't want to end up like chuck.

nope. He cuts from 205 - 209, but he cuts way out in advance.

Do the math, Fedor isnt that much heavier than him.

Agree with the smart move, although it bums me out. I'm sure his students will love it, hear dude is freaking fun and helpful in the gym.

That's what I thought. I had heard, an albeit crazy, rumour that Anderson walks around naturally at 220-230lbs as well and that he just cuts throughout his training. Also Big Nog was saying that he has been getting a lot stronger over the past few years, so I don't think it's too far fetched.

Irvin fight was 205. He was probably walking at 220 for that fight, many interviews in the past he gave answers ranging from 205 - 209 for his 185 fights.

What kind of a freak is that man, Fights from 167 - 205. I just took a rough shit and am out of energy.

All the more reason it sucks that he is retiring. I really hope that he does another show in London next year. I will be going to see that for sure.

Seriously the amount of muscle he loses going from say 220 or 210 down to 185 is insane. The fact that he still has the ability to dominate makes it all the more impressive. Fighters like lutter, Ruediger, etc have no excuse not to make weight when Silva does and seemingly hasnt had many problems doing so.

Agreed, I can poop and need a nap afterwards.
