COMIC And seven years after, Cowboy Bebop is still the best anime out there.

Discussion in 'Entertainment' started by Scrumpdillyumptious, Jun 29, 2005.

  1. In my opinion, Bebop is Japanese anime's crowning achievment, and no other anime has even come close to reaching its level of sophistication.

    Agree/disagree?

disagree, its good, but people are too diverse to all agree on one supreme anime, mine is FMA.

i say you are wrong. :hs:

the ending of CB, while great, is a cop out on a very loose plot.

It's very good in its own way but no where near as popular in Japan.

IMHO I consider Gundam as Japanese Anime's crowning achievement, after twenty years and almost as many reincarnations it's STILL going strong.

It's silly to say that one anime is the pinnacle of achievement. There are too many different genres. It all depends on what you enjoy to watch.

Bleah, I think of Gundam as sort of a cashcow they just "re-invent" every few years to get a new crop of kids to buy some more plastic models.

Exactly. It brings it more and more fans EVERY year, kids are literally raised on Gundam cartoons over there.

Gundam IS Bandai's #1 cash cow bringing in $$$$$ from their model, toy, and animation sales.

They even have three Gundam feature films coming this year (the first was just released in May).

Gundam made all other mecha animes !

I think Gundam does take top anime, but thy need to remake the original series into better looking for the eyes lol. But def keep the old school music.

Also, I think FMA is bleh. Nothing special about it at all. Its like the new tamagochi in the store nowadays, who really cares.

Yeah I know, but it just seems like it cheapens the series. :dunno: They just take the name and redo everything and call it Gundam. :dunno:

its not cheapening it. Its essentially the same thing. The Seed series is just a way to bring in new fans who dont wanna watch or cant watch the old stuff.

I neither agree, nor disagree, I love Cowboy Bebop, it is still my favorite anime. But there are so many other animes that are just simply amazing. I'm falling in love with Samurai Champloo. I do like FMA, I really got into the The Big O, Ghost in the shell. They are all amazing animes.

you guys do know that the Tomino, the creator of gundam, was originally asked to create a anime series around a set of plastic model kits bandai were making in 1970's, to which he was reluctant at first! the toys came first and the cartoon was a giant ad for them!!

the whole series was and still is to an extent, a mass marketing device for plastic models! but it doesnt make me love it any less :big grin: or stop buying the models.

oh and i liked CB too, its definatly one of the best, but theres no way to pick THE best, too many good ones!

i like it, don't get me wrong, but what makes it so awesome that it's #1 and really "sophisticated?"
