well from the people i have talked to about putting subs and an amp in your car, apparently they say its better to find an amp first, and then work from there..

so does anyone have good suggestions for an amp?

i'm looking for an amp that will run similar to the JL 500/1

it will be powering two 12"s

you need to know what subs you have first, so you get the right amp. You wouldn't want an amp that puts out max power at 2 ohm and then go buy 2 dual 4 ohm voice coil subs, because you wouldn't be able to get the most from your amp.l

IMO it is MUCH better to look for the speaker and then the amplifier for it.

How much do you want to spend on your subwoofers?

    I've got a similar query.

I wanna run one 10W6v2-D4 (or maybe one 12W6v2, havent decided). What amp puts out 300-400 watts at 2 ohms that you guys would recommend? I'm willing to pay decent money, just give me some recommendations at varying prices.

do they have good SPL + SQ ?

also, is there a difference between the 10s and 12s?

The SE series is designed to give a good blend of SQ and SPL.

I personally would get the 12s over the 10s, no questions asked.
    You would love these things!

Excellent. Just what I wanted to hear :bigthumb:. I've always had pretty good experience with MTX amps, if not with their subs.

How do you think it matches up to one 10W6v2 wired at a 2ohm load?

Solid amp and does rated power but is not the most efficent design. Should'nt really be a concern since it's only a 400 watt amp though. Power output is border line for a W3. Be careful with the gain and you should be okay.

400 watts on a 10w6v2 would be just fine.

Hifonix BX1500D for 2 BX1000D for 1. Both can be bought from Sounddomain for $305 and $230 using their price matching system.

if i bought the hifonics bx1500d for two 15s..

how would i wire them ?

Connect the voice coils of each driver in parallel (i.e. + to + , - to -). This will give you a nominal load of 2 ohms for each driver. You'll then wire the two drivers in parallel giving you a 1 ohm load to the amp. I'm pretty sure the Hifonics has two speaker output terminals (internally parallled) so you'll just need to wire each loudspeaker to the amp as if you were running them in stereo.

Depends of the voice coil configuration of your subs.
