Well i've decided to add a subwoofer to my factory system in my '05 mazda6. A buddy of mine has offered to sell me an Infinity Kappa Perfect 12 VQ.

i was wondering what amps you would recommend using with it. if i'm going to use a sealed box.

the alpine mrd-m300 is one of the best bang for the buck sub amps out there...$200 for 400w @ 2ohms. at .50 cents a watt, it's a hard amp to beat.

the alpine wouldn't be enough power, the sub he is getting is svc 4 ohm, best bet would be to get a 2 ch amp and bridge it, something like this

ok, didn't realize it was svc. umm, in that case, a rockford p5002 would smash 500 watts for you. if it doesn't have to be a new amp, check out ebay or something for some Viper amps, like a 400.2. Those amps were badass and pretty clean.

also, i probably wouldn't use an MBQuart amp. I haven't heard any of them, but when SQ companies try to do amps, for the most part, they have no balls.

don't know of anything in particular wrong with the amp, but when high end speakers companies start building amps, they usually don't make a lot of power. just been my experience. the quarts could be complete opposite than this though. if you can find someone that carries them, go listen to them

pass on the Infiniti amps, no balls whatsoever. the JBL would rock. they make some stout ass amps. any DEI amp will be strong (Viper, PPI, Orion, Directed, yes even the Xtreem stuff has some nuts). Kicker KX series amps are pretty powerful, MTX (not the cleanest, but pretty strong), I've had good luck out of Autotek amps (reasonably priced, good performance) If you want to get real juggy, Diamond D6 or JL /series amps. Hell i've got a verge 300w mono from Circuit City for 75 bucks that hits about 130 db on my 2 rockford 8's (ported box, amp is dirty as shit, but it gets me by).

And i'm a fan of RF stuff, used to run a 1000BD on 3 HE12s. that shit smashed and never had a problem out of it. Also had many satisfied customers using RF and they all loved the performance of it.
