Okay I have done plenty of aftermarket sub/speaker/amp installs. But never one with a factory deck. Without taking out the deck can i find out if there is a pre out for it, or is there something to buy that converts that for me.

BTW this is a 2006 Dodge Dakota w/o the "infinity" system. I just would rather keep the stock deck in there to avoid theft and other reasons. Any how I just thought i would ask. Thanks guys you're always very knowledgeable.:)

you need a line out converter. You get a full range +/- speaker signal and it gives you an RCA out. This can be done behind the stereo, or at any speaker.

hmmm....that's it? I thought it would be more intensive than that. So I can take like my right rear speaker, throw a "line out converter" in the wires (+,-) and it gives me RCA out. But then I will only get the sound from whatever that particular speaker receives right? So if the song is stereo channel (left and right) and theres a fade from right to left or vise versa then it may sound off right?

Besides that thanks for your info I may just try that.

What i usually do is grab both rear speakers from the deck. The line out converter has 2 inputs.

if your amp has high-level inputs then you don't need a LoC... The amp has one.

crutchfield could probably email you it, or go to the parts dept. at your car's dealership and have them scan/print the pages out of the factory manual that explains how to remove the dash.
