For most of the first calibers, the penetration was related directly to velocity, but the 45 FMJ penetrated 26" at the lowest velocity. It this "official" or a box o' truth type of experiment?

Generally speaking the bullet with the greater mass will penetrate more than a lighter one. The lighter bullet will often, but not always, have slightly larger expansion.

  3. It's a full metal jacket which means there's no expansion. It's designed to penetrate deep. The 9mm FMJ also penetrates really deep. If they weren't listed as FMJ or HP they are HP (hollow points)
