No, long time storage of loaded mags has no effect on the spring. I have had mags loaded for years, both pistol and rifle. They still function 100 percent. I was told that if i was going to keep them loaded to load them all the way. Don't just put 8 rounds in a 17 round mag and leave it long term. I dont see the difference...

if you are that worried, buy 2 magazine and switch the ammo to the other one when the time changes

no, should be fine for many many years

  6. Every magazine manufacturer uses a different tolerancy of spring steel. The newer production mags should be fine for loaded storage for years, it's the older ones you need to look out for, also ones that have been store in damp locations, rust will effect spring steel.

It has been proven on AR15.com several times that it will not damage the magazine or spring, period. It's the constant loading and unloading that ruins it, but staying in one position even fully compressed for years on end will not ruin anything.

I've had about 5 Sig 226 mags fully loaded for about 5 months now and they are all fine.
