"The big change is output from the Gen III 5.7-litre V8, lifted from Monaro's 245kW to 261kW. This has been achieved by fitment of higher-lift camshafts, an all-new air intake system that draws a greater volume of fresh air and revised exhaust system that provides improved flow. "

The output is limited in the Monaro because there is a special performance orientated version here called the HSV Coupe that comes with 300kW standard (more next year, although the exact number hasn't been revealed).

So much for all the morons who thought the car would be watered down for the U.S.

And if you read the article, you'll also notice a blurb mentioning GM bringing the next generation Ute to North America as well. As I posted last month. :o

    Yea you sound real smart.

Remember....the Z06 has push rods and that is a pretty capable car.

Thanks to another offtopic member I got too last night. Was a little damp and he turned the traction control off, so with all the torque the rears didnt like it.

Damn nice car though, bigger than what im used to. SO much torque though, thats what was realy impressive.

There was a falcon ute at the strip tonight with the 5.4litre DOHC v8, running some alright times. I think it was trapping at 102mph or so, not to bad for a stocker in about 25 celcius heat.

Mustang SVO, Mustang GT Turbo, TBird Turbocoupe, Merkur XR4Ti, turbo Probe, and the 05 SVT Focus is supposed to have a Mazda derived 2.3L turbo.
Ford US do turbo? Nevar!! :slap:

Prototype DOHC 2.3 turbo Ford made for the SVO in 87:
Ford never put it into production because:
    1) They couldn't have it making more power than the 5.0 GT.
    2) SVO was discontinued after 86 due to it's high price and slow sales.
