this is a quick series of photos that i took this week during my lunch break. out of the 10 or 15 photos i took, these were the ones that i liked the best. i have had other suggestions of using blood on the table, plate, or even wine in the glass, but wanted a very clean look to the image. i personally thought the cleanliness of the image left it open to a wider interpretation.

these are sized down from the print version so some details are lost, but you get the idea:

can i ask what you are trying to show here? i have a feeling what it is.... and to tell you the truth, i like the photos stylistically, yet i find it rather creepy...

they were really more sarcastic than anything else. one of the boards that i visit seems to bring up the fact that americans are very violent, so i wanted to portray that in an "everyday" type setting. instead of covering the image with grunge, blood, etc, i wanted it clean because i felt that helped the image more than anything else. :)

I don't like them. Just, I don't see how those photo's define america, nothing in them suggests that, only after I see them you say this... photo's need to tell the story, not the photographer standing beside them IMO.

I don't really agree with the "theme" either. I just liked them visually...But why do pictures HAVE to tell a story? can't they just be cool to look at for no other reason then they just look cool?

that was partially the point. :)

but i see where you are coming from. the message that i am trying to convey is a little lost. appreciate the feedback and will certainly take that with me next time i get the ole camera out. :bigthumb:

I absolutely love them. And that sort of style as well. I wish I were creative enough to think up things such as that.

    ...camera?

No, they don't have to tell a story, mine rarely do. But this is a theme photograph, now, a picnic in a park with a checkered table cloth on the ground and picnic basket and a family sitting around it , and the gun and bullets just unobtrusively laying around, that would better suit the theme a bit, better yet, a red and white checkered tablecloth on the table to add some color with a family or something. Were these made with black and white film or digitally converted? They seem to have a bluish tint to me, or could just be my monitor.

hahahahhahaha, i couldn't stop laughing (not at you heh ;)) but at the theme. It's kind of funny haha.
I think you did a really good job with the actually photos... As for the theme/idea.... funny.... but definitely, SARCASTIC (as someone mentioned before).

I personally think that you should not have the first photo (the gun on the plate) on the same page or next to the third photo (the bullets on the plate).... When i saw the third photo, my immediate photo was "this is being overdone". I think the first and second go hand in hand....and maybe you could do another creative shot.... i dunno.... a hand grenade in a bowl of apples? ..... syringe in a hot dog bun? heh

they were taken with a digital camera, and then brought into photoshop for some digital darkroom work. thats where they were converted to b&w, and the blue overtone added.
