    Ok is there any difference between the two chipsets other than one is old technology? I need to rebuild my pc very cheaply and I want 64bit so...
    I can get a mobo and a 3400+ 754 for about $250..(is that good?)

    I agree, S939 is the future for now, S754 is EOL.

    There are a few decent 754 boards if you aren't planning on upgrading anytime.

    If you just need a cheap system with an amd64 in it, 754 isn't a bad idea.

    S754 = Budget
    S939 = Performance

    NEITHER are EOL. Both will last quite a while. S754 is transitioning into the Sempron platform, but its still going to survive.

    Like the previous poster said, S754 is not dead, and will last for a while, and is a great bang for the buck platform.

    But, S939 is the better way to go, if possible save up extra and go this route if you can.
