if all goes to plan, i should be aquiring a kimber ultra carry soon but since i'm a lefty, i'll need the ambi thumb safety. what's the best place to get one and are they simple to replace or will i need to bring it to a gunsmith?

    :hs:

Depends which trim level you get, one of them actually has it ambi from the factory

then i have no idea.. Kimber could probably retro fit it but I think the cheaper steel frame has no opening where as the more exotic alloy does..

Call them. they are nice on the fone

All 1911's have the hole on the right side of the frame. It's simply a matter of getting an ambi safety and grips with a recess cutout for the ambi lever. I'm not sure how they fit together tho, I know on my BHP it's pinned. For safe safety function I'd be temped to find a gunsmith, they should be able to do this cheaply and pretty quick.
