Am I the only person who thinks Cadillac should have stuck with their real names?

The XLR should be the Eldorado.

The DTS should be the Deville.

The STS should be the Seville.

The CTS should be the Catera

And they need to bring back the Fleetwood.

They also should have stuck with making decent looking cars instead of making gay looking ones.

All premium brands want their main branding to be associated with their cars, not the specific model name. That's why almost all use letter/numeric names. For instance, people with a Dodge Viper say they own a "Viper" not a "Dodge". On the opposite end of things, people with a C230 say they own a "Mercedes", not a "C230".

The old names were classic. They had history behind them. This new shit has no heritage. Why even call the company Cadillac anymore? Might as well call them the luxury division of Saturn.

Today's car companies (aside from the fact that they are FINALLY starting to offer some decent platforms like the Evo and the STI) are completly out of touch with the consumer.

everyone knows the only reason people bought MBs and BMWs is because they had letter/number designations

I actually heard a non-Euro luxo auto marketing guy tell us in class once that they were at a disadvantage to the Germans because of naming schemes and they have to change to keep competitive

I wonder why the "Escalade" is the only one that goes by a model name rather then a model number

I'm going to have to agree with you. The old names were much better in my eyes. I don't like the new hard angled design in their cars either.

I think they shoulda kept their old names. But with all of the drastic changes to the body, I suppose it warranted a name change as well. :dunno:

I've never heard any one say they own a SC2 or an L200, it's always "I own a Saturn". And, I consider Saturn FAR from a premium brand.... <rant>unless of course you ask one of my friends who will tell you that Saturn and Pontiac are Gods gift to the car world, and absolutly no Japanese or Euro car manufacturer can even come close to the excellence and build quality of these two above mentioned brands. </rant> :slap:

Sure they can, every other rap song in the 90's mention the lexus GS 3/400, and how many times have you heard rappers spit about their 600 series benz... hell, even bow wow rhymes about his BMW 745i
