I am usually home ~15-25 minutes after I am done working out.. most of the time it's 20-25 minutes. I only drink water up until I have my shake, which could be up to 30 mins after I am done. Also, I have no high GI foods until that time as well.. is this OK, or do I need to get protein/high GI carbs in earlier?

The real question is what are you getting PRE-workout.

same as post is what I do, 2:1 carb to protein taken ~30min before workout

that sounds fine time wise. as for carbs, low or high GI isn't a huge deal, I usually do a mix of both (Gatorade and oats), though I usually have more high GI carbs in my pre-workout shake to make sure they get my muscles ASAP

I suggest you stop working out because you'll never look as good as I do.

Usually I eat some oatmeal + splenda and have a cup of coffee for the caffeine rush... about 30-45 mins for the oatmeal, 15-20 mins for the coffee.

Creatine + Carbs + Whey protein around 30 minutes preworkout. Same thing immediately post-workout (or as soon as possible). I learned this the hard way and wish I knew a long time ago.

ANY CARB SOURCE is fine. No dextrose / maltodextrin needed. Having said that, gatorade happens to be a surprisingly good choice if you want to use dextrose (contains potassium, sodium etc..).

you should have some protein pre as well. it takes about an hour for whey to digest so you muscles will start getting it just when they need it, during your workout.

Take your creatine pre-workout and postworkout for best results.

I don't need to, and see no reason to subject myself to anal bleeding for a few added pounds on the bench press.
