Alright so I am about 2 weeks from getting off deployment and my dumb ass gets hurt playing flag football. I went in to the TMC to get some pain killers and I come out of there with a 4 week profile and a supposive groin strain. Since I am Natioanl Guard I have to go to a de-mob station (in the US)before our unit can even go home and everyone has to get physicals while they are there etc. There is a chance I could be a medical hold over. The only thing that concerns me is that on my DA 2173 (Mediacal Examination Form) there was a check by the the section that says that my injury is likely to result in a claim against the government for future medical care. I am trying to get my profile knocked down to 10 days. What are the chances I will be a medical hold over? I assume if i pass the normal physical that everyone gets I can just go home like normal. Not sure if anyone has any experience with this.

Man, I am National Guard, we are on like 3-4 year cycles for tours. It just sucked because after I did BCT/AIT, my unit fell in during the cycle and got deployed right when I got out. So I have been married for 2 years and have only seen my wife for like 6 weeks. Kinda like to see her as soon as possible.

It really depends how serious the injury is, and what the Doctor that examined you says.

Every swinging dick and pair of boobs you see at your demob station will do everything within their power to get you home as fast as they possibly can. NONE of them want you to be a holdover. Most of them consider it their duty to you as a soldier to get you home to your family.

Don't do it. It is in YOUR and your FAMILY's best interest to dot every stinking i and cross every stinking T in every single signature block as you work your way through the demob process. Money may not matter to you now, in relation to getting home to see your wife, but by taking care of this shit at the appropriate time and place, you are taking care of your family. If you bypass the process, you will be taking money away from your family and giving it to some rich doctor when you get the medical attention you are going to need. And if your injury turns into a chronic problem because it wasn't taken care of correctly, you'll be taking an active husband and father away from your family.

Do the right thing. You aren't a fucking baby, you're a god damn soldier. Act like one.

So it hasen't been that serious for you then. I know after 3 deployments I have seen enough to know that nothing about combat is "fun".
