i've been lifting for about 8-9 months now, and about 2 months ago, i decided to switch up my routine a little bit.

i work each muscle group on its own day as follows:
    mon - chest
    tues - back
    wed - tris
    thurs - bis
    fri - shoulders
    sat - legs
    sun - off day

on each day, i do 5 exercises with 5 sets in each (25 sets total), and about 5-8 reps per set. i try to keep to 5 reps per set, except for a warmup set on each exercise.

my question is, am i over doing it? is this too many sets/reps to be doing to see the best results? ive put on about 20-25 lbs of lean mass since i started lifting, and i'm seeing progress.. but i dont know if i could be seeing more if i didnt do as many sets

cut them in half for chest, back, legs and maybe shoulders. make it a quarter for bis and tris. and bis and tris don't need their own day.

You don't need more than 4 days a week.

what you are doing is pretty much the Max-OT approach to training, except Bi's/Tri's are one day and its a 5-day routine. Do some research on it. Its a great program for someone that doesnt know whats going and it is very easy to put on mass like you have. I would cut back the sets and make sure that the reps are 5RM's

    just research Max-OT

alright.... but it just seems like 12 sets isnt much for doing it once a week.... i guess its all in my head that the more sets i do the bigger i'll get

Are you tired all the time? Do you never recover? If yes then you are overtraining, otherwise I would just say you have a bad routine.

no im not tired all the time..... doing each muscle once a week lets them recover.... how is this such a bad routine? i've seen pretty good progress the last few months, but i guess i could be getting a lot more?

Because until you post up the amount of volume you're doing per workout, it looks like you're putting in more arm work than leg work. That's terrible.
