Guy wants a vendor member ship on my site which includes free banner advertising, and a sub-forum. The site gets about 1 million pages/month and 3million hits, about 3000 unique.....I said 300.00 for a lifetime subscription....he only sells parts that are b/t 25-100 dollars, should I lower it to 200.00?

That's a deal, especially if your site takes off.

You're not off base, stick with $300. What if he sells $300 worth of parts the first week?

meeting in the middle would be ideal also, sometimes i start off a little higher so i can meet somewhere in the middle, sometimes they take the higher offer. sometimes not, but it never hurts to try

Actually you should not have a one time charge, it should be ongoing.

He underpaid you because you told him it was a lifetime deal.

I would recommend against doing a lifetime deal...set a specific length of time (1-2 years).

dude, you're insane for questioning it. i actually think that is too low at $300.
for a "lifetime" subscription it should be like $1500 or more. withe traffic you have, you need to value your site to go along with it. do u know how much big companies pay for clickthru's on major sites? a few thousand for about 300 or so, with about 400,000 ads served. (about a .015 avarerage) one thing to do is make sure this banner is top notch gif or jpeg and if he does flash make sure there is a back up for those who don't have flash installed. how are you judging the effectiveness of his ad? 3rd party clikc thru site? figure that out too. make up a little contract and make him sign that too. u messed this one up so see if you can tell him you meant $300 a year. good luck!
