I bought a 300d a few weeks ago, and when I heard the 350d was coming out.......I wish I had waited a little longer. If you are doing what I was doing, which was upgrading from a compact digi to something better, you will love the 300d. There is really no comparison between a compact and a DSLR. I have no regrets on getting my 300d now at all, I love it.

Wait until the 350d is out on the shelf. If you can afford it, get it. If not, get a 300d for CHEAP and you will be just as happy, plus have extra cash for lenses. :)

yeah the 300d is under 700 from dell with that deal right now...compared to a $1000 350d i don't think there is much of an option

Let me emphasize, the 350D is DEFINITELY WORTH PAYING UP TO 500 DOLLARS MORE FOR. :)

would it be worth just saving up a couple more bucks and buying a 20d instead of a 350d? It's been out for a year or so, any rumors on a replacement in the near future for it?

    20D body > 350D body.

Thats one of major issues for me when considering a camera, I cant stand plastic bodies.

I saw the other thread said its made of polycarbonate, which is what our f-16 canopies are made of. I am not worried about that :o

there are different grades and standards for almost all materials, but most polycarbonate is a fair amount more durable than most plastic :hs:

the 300d's manual settings aren't much different than the 350 if at all....shutter speed up to 1/4000 and f stop is controlled by the lens...i see that the buffer is incread, but im not shooting football games or anything.

the megapixel increase seems to be the biggest thing about this camera (please prove me wrong becuase i don't know as much as some of you I'm sure), and i think that 6.3 is fine for my purposes..i saw a 16x24 print from a 300d and it looked great.

i actually like the size of the 300d better than the 350 because i have big hands and i can't really grip the 350 very well..doesn't fit well in my hand. correct anything i have said and convince me to get the 350

    350D:
    ettl-2
selectable focusing modes (ai servo / one shot / ai focus :ugh: )
    better iso response
slightly more resolution (8mp vs 6.3)
    lighter
better outside feeling material (rubberized, not as smooth)
    better focusing system

    300D:
    cheaper

If it isn't worth it to you, then don't buy a 350D, get a 300D. I would by the new XT just for ETTL-2 alone.

edit: actually the combination of iso performance and ettl-2 would probably sway me towards a 350D. I shoot a lot of low light and these two make the 350D a completely different beast compared to the 300d :noes: like I've said.. i'd be willing to pay upwards of 600 dollars more for a 350D, but that's what it's worth to me..

what camera is better for you? depends what's of value for you .. maybe you like smooth silver toys that produce noise on will and overexpose w/ flash, while i prefer rubberized black ones :mamoru:

:noes: I won't even touch the subject of XT vs D70. :o Both produce good pictures with good photographers behind them. :noes:

    Both teams played hard. :mamoru:
