hey guys, first post in this part of the forum. looks pretty good here. haha.

well i analyzed my diet today at fitday.com

today, i didn't eat as much as i do usually. i think i'm closer to a 2500 calorie diet on most days, 5-6 small - med size meals a day, but i was wanting to lose weight and my current habits don't do anything for me so i decided to go low carb. is this a good amount to be eating? i lift at the gym about 4 times a week. my current weight is about 197, and has been 197 for years. i'd like to get down to about 170 if possible. i'm 6'. here goes.

If you don't have a lot of muscle, it's easy to be lighter than that and still not look good.

I posted a picture of me before i worked my legs... and I was like 155 lbs at 6' and still had some stomach fat... :(

I can dig it up and link it, I posted it in the "year end picture thread".

Then you need to be patient and put on muscle. At 6 feet tall you should never weigh under 170 unless you're a girl. The point is that the thread starter should be doing everything he can to gain muscle first instead of trying to get down to 155 first. Just start eating healthy and lifting weights like a mad man, not counting calories and starving yourself. That's more like anorexia than cutting when you weigh that much.

Word, I'm definatley more worried about putting on muscle now than looking shredded .

This is what I looked like at 165 lbs. Not having any muscle on your legs shaves like 20 lbs off your weight, easy.

What is the point of posting a 1500 calorie day when you dont eat that normally? *sigh*

Regardless, you need to eat more protein. I'd up protein intake at least 45-50g /day

You mention in your first post that you wanted to go "low carb"

True low carb is tough to do (or it was for me at least). Are we talking Atkins low carb or what?
