first off...no tit pics, it's not that kind of rude and I am a guy.

So I've been working on being really relaxed when I roll. One of the exercises that I do while rolling is that I talk to my couches, and even play around with the other person rolling by talking shit and stuff purely in jest. Doing so helps me relax, and the other guys laugh at some of the shit we say back and forth.

I also say something funny when I hear my coach giving tips to the other guy. This also shows that I maintain a good presence of mind with what's happening around me.

My coach seems completely fine with it, as do the rest of the guys.

Any of you guys do this too? Or should I just keep mouth shut and roll like it was adcc?

if your coach and the person your rolling with don't have a problem with it...

I could see it being disruptive though :dunno:

I do it all the time...mostly just because I like to talk.

I talk to the guys I'm fighting too if I get the chance.

In one of my fights you can see me laughing because the guy started talking back...then he elbowed me in the face, haha.

Talking to the coaches and things like that doesn't bother me. People talking about the roll and giving some tips to each other here and there doesn't bother me. People talking shit during a roll bothers me, makes it go from a roll to more competitive in my mind.

When I talk shit, I don't say stuff like you suck, I'm ripping your head off, etc. It's more of playing around more than anything. It keeps all of us relaxed.

One dude was playing and kept on yelling "die! die!" as he worked on his choke on me lol. I was rolling with a friend and she attempted a triangle on me as revenge from something I pulled off earlier...and I told her "not today" and countered it lol.

The only disruptive part is when someone just says something stupid and funny that we all laugh...including those rolling. But it seems to be helping since they still continue with their attempts while laughing.

Talk if youre on top and holding me down, talk away. Preferably giving me tips on how to escape. But if youre being mounted, concentrate on escaping.

I do this in rolls before/after class...but during class it's gametime. I like to see people trying to do what I taught and not just fucking off.

Depends on the conversation, if its just a light warm up roll or a light warm down roll then i am cool with talking shit.

However if its proper rounds that we are fighting in with someone of similar skill level or if they are better than me, then the only talk i wanna hear is how the hell do i escape that double armbar/gi choke with kneebar that you got me into.

I agree entirely. When its coach's time, he talks and generally we don't jest unless he calls one of us out first or gives us a little shit. When rolling I talk a little. I've been known to drop a 'god i fucked that up' or 'i really half assed that' when its the case.

The only people I really talk to are guys asking advice on why they got caught in something or if they're really new and have no idea what they're doing I'll stop.

I'll also ask the guys better than me why I got caught in stuff or what I could have done to avoid certain subs/passes/sweeps. :dunno: I've also been known to ask "how close" a choke or sub was, especially if I think I've got it locked in pretty good with no tap.

I almost never talk when I roll... I think if you had to pick between the two, you would probably get better if you did treat each match like the finals of the ADCC lol.
