Both have their advantages, both are reliable. Which one do YOU like more?

Altima with the CVT transmission. Those transmissions are really cool, I've driven a few.

im not crazy about the CVT. it could perform better than a traditional auto and run with the best manual. but something about it just revving up and then just chillin at a steady RPM is just not nearly as much fun, even as fun as a traditional autooooooooo

CVT are either hit or miss with most people. Some people love them, some find them annoying. If you found it interesting, you'll be hooked.

Personally, I don't like it, but they are smooth as hell.

If it's a DD for normal use I am going to have to go with the Altima just because it looks better.

It felt like a jet engine to me. I've always liked that sensation when an airplane is taking off and the engines wind up to an unholy speed and it feels like the entire world is pushing me in the back.

another thing to add, Nissan extended their standard drive train warranty aka CVT tranny to 10 years/120k miles.

    Honda automatic tranny FTMFL.

On the flip side, my buddy has a 94 Honda accord with 330k miles on it, including the original tranny...lmao, I'm waiting for the day that thing shits.

I hate when people do this. How the hell are we supposed to know what you like? Do you value performance over comfort? Quality over looks? Who are we to tell you what you prefer? As far as performance goes, the altima has got the accord beat. Better engine, better transmission options, much tighter feeling, better brakes, etc. The accord is nicer on the inside, but the altima has more options. They both get similar gas mileage, and looks are completely subjective.

I dunno, I just told him which one I'd buy; I don't really care if he enjoys it as much as I would've. :fawk:

Actually the bad transmissions mated w/ v6's come from Ohio and Indiana.
