I'm looking for a $20k new car and have narrowed down to these 2. Both comes with $1k rebates. What you guys think? And no, I don't want a 2.5GT nor 3.5 SE. Just want something as a DD for work <-> home.

    Altima 2.5 S manual w/ABS
    $21,035
Pro: roomy interior, more power, 6 spd, intelli key, easy to find
Con: FWD, body roll, 16" steelie, traditional halogen

    Subaru Legacy 2.5 SE Manual
    $21,440
Pro: good handling, AWD, 17" alloy wheels, ABS standard, projector halogen
Con: smaller interior, less power, Ugly as sin key, 5 speed with shitty ratio on 2nd, hard to find one with manual

    Nissans are fucking junk.

Go with the Legacy. I guarantee you'll have a better car a longer time.

    I've had 3 subaru's

I had a '98 2dr impreza with over 200k miles that still looked and ran like new, sold it a little over two years ago.

I've also had 2 80's model subaru wagons with over 200k, they were ugly as hell, but they handled like I would never have believed (for wagons), and never quit running.

I'm the kinda guy that swaps out cars often, so longevity isn't a real issue for me.

Oh, and I have an acquaintance (i don't call him a friend anymore) that has a subaru wagon wrx, and he regularly blows cars up in less than 20,000 miles of ownership (he blew up the lexus sc400 i sold him in less than that, with 200k miles on it when I sold it to him, but it was in like-new condition, not to mention the 2 or 3 300zx's [90'+] he blew the engines in lol) and his subaru is still running like new with over 50,000 miles on it. It's an '06 I think.

The problem is I couldn't find a 2.5 Legacy with manual and last day for rebate is Oct. 1. This is fucking LA for christ sake. It's not like I'm in Oregon and shit.

"Oh, I'm so excited...I'm going to go buy a new car. Oh, here's a company... bee em dubayou. Hmm, they charge twice as much for a car as I would expect...or I could go buy a civic/accord that looks roughly the same (but better, they actually have a thing called "styling"), for half the price, and have every amenity the bmw has."

    Bmw sucks. $70,000+ for a 525xi. And it's no faster than a $24,000 mustang.

You're paying $20,000 extra to have that little symbol on your hood/trunk lid. And for rwd instead of fwd. Then again, if you're not going to race anyone on your way to work, or to the gas station, a fwd car is just as good as a rwd car.

And the fwd honda's that cost 1/2 as much, and are just as nice, won't give you any troubles for at least 100k miles.

    Bmw ftmfl
