    I've shot a few different manufacturers’ .50 BMGs and most kick less than a 12 gauge slug. The recoil is much more of a push than a snap but the real "event" is the blast from the escaping gas. The muzzle brake vents gas to the sides so if you aren't directly behind the gun you really feel it. The over pressure is a lot like a flashbang.

    Damn man thats one BFG. Somone at our local range was shooting one, and upon the first shot, set off every car that had an alarm. It was histerical.

    The camera makes that car look a lot smaller than it really is. I'm used to shooting at shoulder/head targets at 225, and that picture makes that car look smaller than one of those targets would at 225.
