I generally prefer Alpine over Clarion

I own a clarion, i got it for cheap, nothing special but it gets the job done, display is hard to read in sunlight

Older clarion gear is pretty much top end stuff. Newer gear, not so much. I vote alpine.

I was leaning more towards the alpine one anyways, the clarion looks like 80's crap. Is this the best Alpine model i can get for $200 ?

Hrmm, is it worth it? Do you know what the major difference is? Other than the color ?

Did some comparing, the only difference is that the 9853 has "Glide Touch" controls, doesn't sound worth it to me :dunno:

If you are goin for a cheaper set-up, i think Polk is by far the best for the money. If you have to choose however the Alpine Type S are not to shabby.

100%, i will always stand behind Polk Audio and everything they make. I have had almost nothing but in the last few stereo buildups i did, and only have gotten compliments.

i've got the 9851 in my Nismo Frontier. I'd definitely take the alpines over any of the newer clarions.
