    GET OFF MY LAWN!
Have a list of things I want to do to the Beast but it's going to mean at least a week of downtime for the bike, maybe two and I just can't bring myself to garage it for that long. :(

Just a weeklong blizzard will do. Enough time to rebuild forks, swap out front calipers for a set from an R1, powdercoat shit, repaint plastics. toss on a new windscreen, put on solid motor mounts.

Just start it on a day where you couldn't possibly ride.

Your lucky, we have months here to work on stuff, with occasional days when you can go riding. Right now, it's all wet and rainy with wet leaves all over the road in places, not good.

if your bike is financed you need insurance anyway, and even if it isn't they'll suspend the registration and charge you money to reinstate it

I leave my insurance on all the time, never know, when you might get a few decent days to ride in. I'll ride into the low 40's as long as it's dry out. Plus, if it gets stolen (24 year old Honda cruiser, not so likely) or damaged by a car or something while parked (apartment complex life), it's covered.
