I want to get back into comics- I'm on vacation next week and I'd like to pick up a bunch of graphic novels or compilations of the best Spiderman and Batman stories- can someone recommend me some good choices?

Well for graphic novels, I really enjoyed Batman: Long Halloween and Batman:big grin:ark Knight Returns. Also Midnight Nation by JMS is mighty  IMO.

Never really liked Sups, he was always too much of a pussy for me. He gets a fuckin S curl and no one can recognize him. Bullshit.

Also Rising Stars has 2 trades out Bor in Fire, and Power, but reading those will leave you desperately drooling for the 3rd TPB.

    Killing Joke.

I've been getting my geek on by picking up the last few issues of Wizard and reading about all the stuff I missed in the last 8 or so years. It looks like there's a lot of good stuff out there like the Superman/ Batman series. I like to see things like Batman looking down on Superman- I understand there was a storyline where Superman captured Batman and Batman told Superman he had a bomb set in the city. Cool stuff!

The Sandman graphic novels written by Neil Gaiman, published by DC. It's not your typical Superhero comic though.

The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller is a classic.

Do you guys also know where most of the inspiration from Batman Begins came from?

Does it have something to do with Frank Miller's Dark Knight or the HUSH series?

Some of it was taken from Year One actually (the bats :eek3: )... the feel of it for sure. In the movie he makes mistakes being a newbie hero. Nothing like the previous movies, where he knows it all already.

Nothing from HUSH shows up at all.
