Thanks everyone who has helped me along the way!
    :bigthumb:

Now of course one more question...
one of the round I fired had massive smoke come out of the barrel of the gun, it did not feel any different. What happened with that round??

I've had that happen with rounds out of my AK before. recoil wasn't significantly different, it still hit the target (not a squib), and no harm was done to the gun, so I figured it was just a pocket of powder that didn't burn for a tiny bit :dunno:

Could be blow by. That's when the bullet leaves before most of the powder burns. Wou need to look at your cases. See if there is a scorch mark down the side next time that happens. It's a good practice to look at your cases everytime you experiment with a new load. Look for primer flow, signs of over pressure, blow by, etc.

Oh you probably had a case with very little or no crimp and it wasn't seated very deep. This may cause blow by.

Couple cases were ~90% covered in black marking, is this the scorch mark you are referring to?

I would have to see it. This is down the side of the case? If it is that is a lot of blow by. Not good. Try seating deeper and a little more crimp.

Are you talking about more of a streak of black band? The case in question was darkest around the mouth then dark greyish (while getting lighter as it got further away from the mouth) until last 3/16" of the case where it was clean.

I will get a picture up when I'm back home.

    .

Good job firing your first handloads! I remember firing my first handloads, I was a little leary to say the least. You're on your way to saving significantly, or shooting twice as much, more likely the latter. Now you are officially reloading crew.

lol, thanks. This kid is already pretty spoiled. Her nursery furniture cost more than my own bedroom furniture.

I'll definitely slow down to maybe 2-3 matches a month, best believe I'll be dry firing like crazy.

    I can't wait till she's strong enough to rack a slide... :)

edit: I didn't submit this message after I wrote it, but I see that you mention your daughter in the post before this.
