    yeh or nay?

I know I should build my own, but i dont know if i have the patience for that.

They gotta be better than dells. Im gonna use it for gaming and surfing mainly.

Im thinkin Area 51 7500 (intel) or Aurora 7500 (AMD)

They're good... But they really couldn't be much more overpriced.

I really never understood the hype around Alienware computers. I've used them and the perfromance isn't much different than machines that I've built and optimized myself.

    Totally with ya.

Heheh. I laugh at two of my buddies for that shit all the time :hsugh:.

Considering that my AXP 3200+/9700 Pro gaming machine performs every bit as good as my friend's 3.2 P4/9800XT Alienware, I never stop ragging on him for that.

$700 vs. $3,000? No thanks, I'll take the self built.

Find some patience and build your own, you will probably save thousands of dollars, or at least close to $1000 I bet.

But 45 minutes for assembly and about 3 hours for finding good quality parts ain't in need of patience.

(I can configure a system in under 10...heheheh...)

Check out ibuypower. The pictures on the main page show computers with cases that look like they were made by 7 year olds on acid, but you can get normal looking case. Plus you can configure other things, so it is almost like building it yourself.

My friend has bought a few systems from them and is happy.

Alienware komps are directed at the people who want a good gaming rig to go with their PS2 and their XBox and they don't know the first goddamn thing about computers. They're good systems, but if you're willing to spend a couple of hours ordering parts and plugging parts in, you can get a better machine for 30% less money and 98% less stupid-looking plastic.

    You lying sonuva...

There isn't a single computer on this website that looks like it was designed on a kitchen floor using crayons and blood.

    :big grin:
