Alcohol while dieting

    Im currently cutting down for the winter (see this thread)

    Issue is, i like to have a drink of whiskey at night. Calorie wise it is relatively low, <100 calories.
    Im well aware of the effects on the liver. I just had all my blood work done and my results are better than average, considering i drank 10x60 oz's this summer.

    Is there any harm in continuing this one or two shots a night, or should I stop?

    Supposed to be suppressive of test, but you're not really drinking alot.
    Obviously it would be better if you didn't :dunno:

    Halts fat burning, halts protein synthesis.

    It fucking sucks but god it's amazing.

    Here's a good bit of anecdotal evidence: my gains stopped dead when I started drinking again.

    well, to be honest, one drink is usually a 6oz glass of scotch.
    So, i see the point.
    All the alcohol is gone now :(
    Should have sent a bottle to someone on OT. Its 40 creek, fine canadian whiskey, one of the best whiskeys ive ever had.

    Alcohol lower test, slows protein synthesis, and slows the metabolism.

    I still drink a little maybe twice a week but don't get drunk anymore. I was looking pretty good at one point and then over the summer me and my ex basically lived at my friends house (he lives alone in a 3 bedroom) for about a month. We drank about 4 times a week and got drunk once a twice a week and ate out a lot.

    Within 2 weeks I noticed my body going to shit. 6pack became a 4pack, always bloated, always looking flat, etc... My diet goes off track now and again and I maintain so I KNOW it was the alcohol that solely did it.
    I didn't touch alcohol for 2 weeks after moving back home and I was back to normal :noes:

    I still like to sip on some makers mark bourbon whisky or have a couple beers after a really long day though.

    It doesn't seem like much but it will hurt your progress. Give it up if you want good results.

    Ironically, after making that long post I came home and had a couple glasses of Makers Bourbon Whisky on the rocks.

    just do what I do bro: don't drink the entire week and get trashed on friday or saturday night. Sometimes I drink twice a week but never heavily both times, i'm too pussy.

    i usually get trashed 1 night... but i get trashed off of like 4 24ozes, but i usually do like 2 tall cans one night a week, does it slow down YOUR gains?

    my gains suck I guess but i wouldn't know if it's because of alcohol or not. I've been drinking basically the same amount at the same times for the last ~4 years.

    That's what I was doing and my gains took a dive bigtime. I've haven't drank in 3 weeks and already I'm ramping up again... it's probably in my head but fuck... I really love to drink. :wtc:

    When I got back to school I drank a few nights a week. My progress STOPPED. My endurance was pretty shot.

    I haven't drank much more than a couple beers a week and progress is coming back.
