    Guys,
Have any of you had any experience in removing an ink spot from alcantara seats? An uncapped pen poked through my backpack and left a little spot. It's blue ink from a ballpoint pen. Alcantara's website says to use ethyl alcohol and water to remove such a spot, but I was wondernig if any of you had had any luck removing such a problem spot.

    HELP PLEASE!

I have no idea what type of material alcantara is. If their website makes a specific recommendation, it should be safe.

Here's some info I dug up on Audiworld forums:

Alcantara : extremely easy to clean, it can also be washed in the washing machine on the cool water cycle. To maintain its natural look, just us a soft brush. Spots are easy to remove: just follow the instructions in the spots removal table, below.

Alcohol, spirits wash with soap foam, then clean with diluted methylated spirits (10-20%)

Drinks, wine sponge with vinegar and water (50%) then wash with soap foam
Biro, shoe polish, tarmac, pine cone resin, chewing gum
sponge with absorbant fabric coated in ethyl alcohol 90 or turpentine oil
    Beer
sponge with warm water (max 40C) to which 3% methylated spirit has been added

    Coffee, tea, milk
wash with soap foam. If the stain remains, clean with diluted ammonia (10%)

    Chocolate, sweets, blood
sponge with warm water (max 40C) and 5% diluted ammonia

    Paint oil colour:
clean with turpentine, then wash with soap foamdistemper: wash with soap foam. In any case if the stain is old and therefore very difficult to remove ask an expert.

    Cosmetics
generally, only wash with soap foam, in case of persistent stains, use ethyl alcohol 90 or 5% diluted ammonia. Do not ever use nail polish remover or any other solvent for nail polish

    Grass, vegetables
sponge with warm water (max 40C) then wash with soap foam

    Ink
remove as much as possible with blotting paper, clean with 20% methylated spirit and wash with soap foam. Sometimes lemon juice gives good results. In case of persistent stains ask an expert.

    Jam, syrup, fruit juice
sponge with warm water (max 40C), If the stain remains use ethyl alcohol 90

no problem.. i had alcantara seat bottoms and backs on my audi s4 and you will be surprised how well stains come out of it... i think it is better to address the stain soon after it occurs though. while i had never spilled ink, i did spill about half a strawberry-orange smoothie and i was able to remove it with just warm lightly soapy water.

with any chemical you try, be sure to try it in a small spot first to make sure it does not discolor (or remove any color) from the alcantara. i have heard of cases where ethyl alcohol removed some of the alcantara color dye.

The woolite/water mix should work well on most stains but it probably isn't strong enough for ink. Should be perfect for regular cleaning.
