the only things the AR have going for it is a better optics mounting platform, and better accuracy.

an AK can hit a man sized target at 200 yards, which is all you need, and is much more reliable. and not to mention the ammo and the gun are cheaper than an AR.

You don't think better accuracy is a pretty good reason?

I won't disregard the AK47 as a good battle rifle though because it's been proven in real combat.

AK is accurate enough for an MBR, and arming entire militaries with $300 guns instead of $1000 guns is much cheaper :o

Whenever I'm playing AA, any chance I get, I'll pick up an AK.

From what I've heard the AK is like 6 inch groups at 100 yards and that just keeps expanding as distances goes out. Most battles MIGHT take place within 100-200 yards but there are instances where they'll have to reach out to say, 500 yards and touch someone. It's nice to know you'd be able to do that with your rifle.

I like both so I got both, both have there ups and downs for the price of one AR I have 2 ak's in seperate calibers, being able to swap uppers around on the AR is nice, accuracy is better, ak will keep going no matter what, and can double as a club, ar will break. different guns for different situations. Ammo for ak use to be much cheaper then AR ammo not so much the case anymore, hopfully we will see the day of $79 cases of wolf again though. If I'm in a situation where I have to stand my ground and protect my home I'de probably opt for the AR, but if I had to bug out and head into the boonies I'de probably bring my 56s or sar2.

They are not THAT bad. The things are generally 3MOA weapons, but the short sight radius is a limiting factor.

Ammunition weight is a great pro-AR15 argument that no one has mentioned yet.

not that bad unless ya got a cheap romy with fucked up sights, arsenal builds get decent accuracy, get it in 5.45 and the accuracy even gets a bit better, with my sar2 with kobra mounted im pretty confident i can score kill shots at 400 meters

AK without question. I luvs my AK. It's a cheap rommy WASR 10, but i dont' care. I went to the range today with a few friends. I tried my first bump fire...

:eek5: the saying that bump-fire is indestinguishable from full-auto is true. emptied a 30rnder in about 7 seconds. I was my best moment in firearm history.

AK-47 & AR-15 in the new year ftw

I can't wait.. I'm going to really get my shit together this year.

  15. If I was going to own an AK it would be 5.45 x 39, I've seen what this round does in Afghanistan, and it's not pretty. And this round has a way more devistating effect than 5.56.

Kinda sad but their are several U.S. Companies (hess/vulcan, joken, etc) that cann't even build a decent quality AK, while theirs arabs in caves in afghanistan cobbling together better rifles, so if they cannt build a decent simple AK, how can you trust an AR from them.
But like I've said both have there places, Bushy, RRA, Colt ftw with an AR, ORF, Arsenal, import ftw with an AK.

its obvious why the AK was more popular..
