I don't know much about the Yugo's but the Bulgarians are nice...iirc most have the milled reciever. Chinese are nice, but usually go for too much $$. I've got a Romainian Sar-1 and love it. It's everything I expected out of an AK, and it was cheap. If you have more cash to spend, look into Bulgarians or Russians.

just get one of these. that's the way to go, right there. a bulgarian AK74, with your choice of plack polymer or wood furniture. side-folder, bayonet lug (and bayonet), and an actual Bulgarian AK74 brake. Red Star Arms fire control group. $750 is a great price for all that, plus the other extras, and shipping. that's a deal.

right now I'm seriously considering a Polytech legend or "spiker"... if I can find a halfway decent price. Supposedly better and more faithful reproductions than any of the mongrelized AKs of today....

look on www.ak-47.net in the polytech section. Basically they are considered the best semi AKs ever. the legend is the closest thing to the original AK-47 and the "spiker" is type 56 with folding spike bayonet.

they haventbeen imported since 1989 and they wont ever be again.

    they are not cheap.
