Some advantages I can think of w/ Poly - lighter weight, no warping or splintering (is this an issue one should even worry about?)

With wood furniture you get that classic look. What do you prefer?

I'm a wood guy, just slap a little stain and a little clear coat of top of it and you have nothing to worry about.

Plus its an AK syn on an AK looks about as weird as wood on and AR to me, plus honestly most of the AK synthetics I have seen are either ugly or ugly conversions of AR looking collapsable stocks

I say wood on an AK. I can't imagine having poly on mine. A friend has an AK dressed up with poly and it looks ok, but I think wood is the best style for an AK. Afterall, wooden AKs are what all the arabs and stuff use in the wars over in the Eastern Hemisphere. :)

I like wood on any fixed stock or underfolder, sidefolder ak1xx series I'd go with polymer handguards though.

AR styled stocks are NEVER acceptable on an AK.

I have both but I like my polys the best. The ones I have are the same style as the traditional wood

My AK-47 is wood. And I won't ever go Poly with it. Love the old - made by an old guy in a cave look on my WASR.

Poly really isn't that much lighter than wood. I think both look nice but I prefer a nicely stained wood.

I hate wood on all guns and pretty much don't like wood anywhere. Just not my style.

Who cares what they LOOK like? I've seen pictures of melted plastic and wood on fire, but it took more abuse to get the wood to catch fire than it did to make the plastic melt. So I'd go with wood...

considering the AK is famous for its durability I voted poly simply because you are never going to have to worry about it.

    k-var furniture ftw

One benefit to synthetic is that you can get a NATO length stock (1.25" longer than the standard)

It is nice that they sell it but it's only a benefit if you're way larger than average... my old man has a NATO length K-VAR on his SAR1 and that sucker is too long.

K-VAR with the heat shield seems to be ok.

KVar should be good, their black synth is bulgie, when I had a SLR95 the poly on that stayed cooler then wood when bumping.

I bumped 150 rounds out of my Tantal last weekend and it got too hot to hold on to  I should get one of those head shields for it, I hear they work pretty well.
