Looks nice, are there any problems with the gas system when the barrel gets so short?

Yeah, I'm very curious about this as well.

Also, at what point does something like this become a pistol rather than a short-barreled rifle??

No stock, under 16" barrel = pistol, put a stock or forward grip on it then you need to pay a stamp if the barrels under 16"

$70 shipped for the receiver from OOW
$11 for the rivets (bought extras) from akparts.com
$65 (I suck at rivet work) for the gun smith to press the rivets and barrel in with a bunch of extras

Not true. At least on the federal level.

    (29) The term “handgun” means—
    (A) a firearm which has a short stock (what the fuck is this supposed to mean??? :ugh2: ) and is designed to be held and fired by the use of a single hand; and
    (B) any combination of parts from which a firearm described in subparagraph (A) can be assembled.

Anyways, definition of a handgun on the federal level has nothing to do with barrel length. On a state level, probably, but probably not under 16"

    CO defines it as

(e.5) "Handgun" means a pistol, revolver, or other firearm of any description, loaded or unloaded, from which any shot, bullet, or other missile can be discharged, the length of the barrel of which, not including any revolving, detachable, or magazine breech, does not exceed twelve inches.

Nice work, congratulations. I'm more partial to the wooden pistol grips, but well done.

What kind of underfolder is that?
